November 2007
The gifts received at our Harvest
Festival were sent out to the sick and elderly in the community
by some of our Junior Church members and their families.
As our harvest teaching theme, we
have learned about 'Roots and Fruits', including re-telling
Jeremiah 17 in modern language and learning how we need to grow
strong roots in the Lord because life is lived from the roots
upwards. We also talked about the fruits of the Spirit,
including trying to match an appropriate fruit to each gift,
which was fun. Other lessons have included 'Share the
Moment', when we read about Peter's reaction to the
transfiguration and 'We are Family', when Paul continued
to give advice on how Christians are to live.
Two of our members had a great time
taking part in Callington Primary School's performances of the
musical 'Hoodwinked' based on the story of Robin Hood.
They took part in singing and dancing in the show as members of
the after school drama club and choir. Proceeds from the
performances were sent to their 'twin' school in Africa; and
well done to another member who took part in the City of
Plymouth Championships and won three gold medals and two silver
medals in his age group and trophies for first place and sixth
place in the championship finals of the 100m butterfly and 100m
freestyle respectively.
