| Useful Links | Action For Children Report 2008/09 Although our overall total is somewhat down on last year, we still have raised the excellent sum of £3106.06 in our financial year ending 28th February 2009. The larger than usual sum last financial year was boosted by a couple of one-off special events - our regular events during this year have been well supported and raised what we hoped for, with special mention for our sponsored swimmers who exceeded all expectations and raised a massive £498. We are grateful too for the excellent effort by Tamar Valley Church members who raised £311.80 at their gift service plus their coffee morning - many thanks. Also to Dobwalls Primary School for £112.26 from their nativity event and staff contributions. The home collection boxes were a little down on other years, but I guess that's a sign of the times. When people do not have so much disposable cash, it is quite amazing how they still support worthy causes and charities, and we are truly grateful in these somewhat tougher times that we are still able to send a good sum in support of those whose needs are greater than ours. So thanks to all our supporters who attend our events and give their time and money so generously. |
The Circuit meetings and Church
Councils have agreed that the churches in our circuit should become
Fair Trade churches. This means that we use fairly traded tea,
coffee etc at all our meetings, lunches, coffee mornings and other
events. Callington is
trying to gain Fair Trade status, whereby a number of local shops,
businesses, community groups and churches use Fair Trade products,
which can be purchased at the Cornerstone shop in Fore Street and
the Co-op in New Road. |

Each Friday morning
there is a prayer meeting in the parlour at 10.00am with a short
Communion
Service at this time, on the the first Friday of each
month.
Why not come along one Friday and join us? The format is very
relaxed, consisting usually of a Bible reading, leading to a brief
discussion, followed by a time of open prayer. You are as
welcome to come and say nothing as to come and participate actively
- so why not give it a try? Then stay for coffee, biscuits and a
chat! |
|||
|
Coffee will be served after the morning service on the LAST Sunday of each month. It is hoped as many as are able will stay for a short while and continue the fellowship of the earlier part of the morning. |
There are coffee mornings held at St Dominic (second Monday of each month), Stoke Climsland (first Wednesday of each month, but check venue locally) and Tamar Valley, (check dates locally). | ||
