With over 20 children enjoying
the morning, we made Easter Gardens, chocolate nests complete
with Cadbury mini eggs, Easter chicks,
bandanas, cards,
bookmarks etc.,
For the Gardens we used a wide
range of materials, including dried pasta and lentils, viola
plants, stones, moss, straws, cardboard, play
dough, foil and lollipop sticks. Many of the Gardens were displayed in our
Church for the Easter Services. Thirty of us finally sat down
to hotdogs and the 'surprise sweet of the day' was jelly, ice-cream,
meringues, strawberries, bananas, squirty cream and of course, all
the necessary toppings!
The video was of the Easter Story
in cartoon form.
OUR NEXT
PROJECT WILL BE THE SUMMER 2008 ACTIVITIES OF WHICH DETAILS WILL BE

The foundation of
all the

Christ is Lord and Saviour and that all people need to come to a
personal faith in Him and experience the reality of His presence in
their lives. Outreach is our priority.

| Newsletter March 2008 March has been a very busy month as we celebrated Mothering Sunday, Palm Sunday and Easter. The Juniors and Text Club have started learning about Lent. In 'Ready, Steady, Stop' they heard how God called Moses to wait and to listen and how it encourages us to prepare for Lend by focusing on what it means to wait and explore the importance of taking time out from our everyday routines to listen to God. We talked about the tradition of eating pancakes and possible 'Prayerful' fillings which describe a personal quality that people can ask God for during Lent - golden syrup (sweetness), chocolate spread (discipleship - spread the Good News), jam (loyalty - sticking up for others), banana (happiness), gruyere cheese (holiness) or mushrooms (joy - being a fun guy!) Then in 'K(no)w Limits' we discovered that the choices we make have consequences and that pushing the limits with our choices can have both negative and positive outcomes. We read Psalm 121 in our lesson 'Bless : You' and discovered that God will be with us on our life's journey and we explored how we can be a blessing to others on their journey. Finally in 'Where's God?' we learned how the Israelites lost their trust in their leader Moses and questioned God. We were encouraged to think about how we cope when things become difficult. | |||
| Junior Church Report 2007 We have had another busy year, learning at our weekly Junior Church sessions and also at various other activities. Our Mothering Sunday service was taken by Reverend Anne Curnow and was closed with the traditional distribution of daffodils to all the ladies. Several of our Junior Church members took part in the Gift Day concert, showcasing their talents and again in the Whit Sunday service held in the Town Hall. Our Anniversary services were a little different, as we invited Steve Allen from Liskeard in the morning with his wonderful puppets, which were enjoyed by all ages. After the Anniversary tea, Reverend Doreen Sparey Delacassa took our evening service, using her strong story telling talents. Our Summer programme took us out and about with fabulous weather on an art trip to Minions, to the park, on walks and playing cricket and football in the field. We also featured music, drama, craft and cookery. All were combined in a special culminating service of 'Gifts, Skills and Talents'. We loved having David Cole to take our Celebration Sunday service and he was able to stay to our lunch which benefited the charity REGAIN. Three of our young people swam again for NCH at 'Splash Out' and after the Harvest services, seventy-three gifts were delivered around Callington. We also have several JMA collectors on the books. Once again, the Toy Service was well supported, this year's donations going off to the NCH Cornwall SPACE project. We led the Advent readings and had an enjoyable Christingle service, although disappointingly numbers were down. Monies collected were sent to Friends of Genesis Primary School in Kenya. Several of our Junior Church members also belong to the Circuit Youth Club and one member went to this year's Youth Synod at Treloyhan Manor. Our young people continue to participate in many musical, school, college and sporting activities outside Church and we congratulate them on their awards and progress made. Our latest venture is the Junior Church Table Tennis Club, meeting once a month. It is really great to see how our small group of members have improved in their playing! We continue to let everyone know what is happening in Junior Church through our monthly newsletters. Please remember our young people and their families in your prayers. | |||
