NewS LetteR January 2oo7 - a happy new year to you all!
The Toy Service went well and we were pleased to pass on toys and games for the SPACE project for children and young people with learning disabilities. We had a great time at our Christmas cookery and crafts morning on 9th December when we made robin table centres and delicious Christmas biscuits and enjoyed spaghetti on toast and ice cream for lunch (on separate plates!)
Our lessons were a bit disrupted in December, but the Juniors put on a Christmas play about the new star and made decorations of the star and angels for their Christmas trees at home. They also made special Advent cross pictures, where simply one cut of 'origami' folded paper, produced a cross, stand and lighted candles! The Text Club made mini Christmas message tags for their trees at home and put on a special 'teaching' play for the teachers (complete with spitting camel!) On Christmas Eve we joined together to play 'Name That Carol' and 'Quick on the (Advent) draw'.There was a good congregation at the Christingle service which followed our workshop, when the children read and sang, one of the Christmas songs being the 12 days of Christmas was extremely entertaining! The money from the Christingle purses has been sent to the National Blind Children's Society which provides resources to enable children with visual impairment to achieve maximum independence through both education and recreation. The services they provide include education, large print books, ICT and sensory equipment, holidays and activities, family support and family support.MW sang with the College's Junior Choir at both the Autumn concert and the carol concert at St Mary's Church. Tamsyn took part in a Christmas play at The College of St Mark and St John with her drama group.
