CALLINGTON METHODIST CHURCH Guild and Women's Network

Updated 30/08/2011

Women's Guild & Network of the Methodist Church

Women's Network now has a new name - it is part of Methodist Women in Britain.

(MWiB.org.uk). MWiB was launched at the British Methodist Conference at Southport on 1st July 2011 and includes the Women's Network in the Methodist Church, the British Unit of the World Federation of Methodist and Uniting Church Women, and lots more besides.

It aims to link Methodist women around the world in prayer, exchanging news and face to face meetings. In the Callington and Gunnislake Circuit we meet once a month, usually on the third Wednesday at 2.30 pm and move our meetings around our four Churches.

Here is our current programme of events - why not come along and find out what we are about!!

Wesley Guild Report 2010 - 2011
Our Annual day trip to Sidmouth on August Bank Holiday was a beautiful day in every way.  The weather, the company, our lunch at Ottery St. Mary, and then Sidmouth where the sun shone all day.  All organised by Jill and Tony who do a marvellous job, including of course the supper back at our church.  Three cheers for Jill and Tony!

There has been a great variety of talks in this programme and some good musical entertainment, also our membership has increased.  Our talks are divided in four categories -
  • Christian Service - five talks
  • Devotional - five talks
  • Cultural - six talks
  • Social & Musical - five talks
We were pleased to be able to support the following charities:
Shelterbox £50, Overseas Missions £60, Haiti Appeal £100, Mercy Trading £125, Nigerian Hospital Appeal, £50, Gideons £50, Callington Methodist Church £250.

The Guild Service was conducted by Martyn with Jean Ryall assisting.  The 'Guild Singers' sang three items, which we think were favourably received!  The theme of the service was 'The Bible, and Sheila Tredinnick wrote some suitable dialogue to link in.  A good productive session and I hope everyone is pleased with the result!
